I'm not sure why, but I've always had a thing for the 1993-96 Mark VIII. RWD. DOHC 32v V8. Swoopy, futuristic looks. Adjustable suspension.

Of course, the interior was a plasticky mess and its Thunderbird underpinnings weren't terribly sophisticated. And the contemporary Lexus SC was better in every way.

But still. It's pretty slick. Especially for a '90s Lincoln.

My wife actually owned a Mark 7 and a Mark 8 while we were dating back in the day. They were really great cars for highway driving.

The chassis was actually quite sophisticated. The rear suspension was made almost entirely out of aluminum, with a beefy Ford 8.8 differential in the middle. Plus, the front suspension was an SLA setup. With minimal mods they handle quite well, but even in stock form they feel smaller than they are.

I've owned a couple of Mark VIIIs over the years and found them somewhat of a nightmare to maintain, but better to drive than the other large coupés available during the same era. Including the SC.

Oh, and a Terminator supercharged 4.6 bolts in. Just saying.

A stretched MN12 chassis (underpinnings of the 90s Thunderbird and Cougar), known as FN10.
